How is Polyester DTY Yarn Graded?
The grading of Polyester Yarn DTY (Draw Textured Yarn) primarily depends on fiber quality, production processes, and performance indicators. Different grades directly affect the hand feel, strength, and end-use of fabrics.
Core Grading Standards for DTY:
1. Grading by Appearance and Defects (Industry Standard)
AA Grade: Nearly flawless (oil stains, stiff filaments, dyeing spots ≤1 occurrence/100,000 meters). Uniform luster and consistent crimp. Used for high-end apparel, luxury fabrics, and medical textiles.
A Grade: Minor defects (broken filaments ≤3 occurrences/100,000 meters). Slight color variance, not affecting overall usability. Used for branded garments and home textiles.
B Grade: Visible defects (broken filaments ≤8 occurrences/100,000 meters). Uneven crimp, often requiring subsequent processing to mask. Used for regular apparel and low-to-mid-range home textiles.
C Grade: Significant defects (frequent broken/stiff filaments). Noticeable color differences, unstable physical properties. Used for industrial cloth and filling materials.
2. Grading by Physical Performance (Internal Corporate Standards)
Premium Product: Breaking strength ≥3.5 cN/dtex, Elongation: 20%-30%, Boiling water shrinkage ≤3%.
First-Grade Product: Breaking strength ≥3.2 cN/dtex, Elongation: 15%-35%, Boiling water shrinkage ≤5%.
Qualified Product: Breaking strength ≥2.8 cN/dtex, Elongation: 10%-40%, Boiling water shrinkage ≤8%.
